Awa Odori Dance
Get ready for an unforgettable cultural experience as Hisako brings the energy and spirit of Japan’s most famous dance festival to Japan Fest Derby!
✨ Awa Odori is a vibrant traditional dance from Tokushima, performed each August during the Obon holiday. Known for its joyful rhythm, dynamic group choreography, and iconic chant—“Yatto sa, yatto sa!”—Awa Odori transforms entire streets into a moving celebration of life.
Dressed in beautiful traditional costume, Hisako will lead a live performance that captures the essence of this centuries-old tradition, complete with authentic music and infectious energy.
Perform Anime UK - Dance
Performanimeuk will be running an Anime and JPop Random Playdance at Japan Fest Mansfield! A playdance is a fun, casual activity where sections of songs are played and everyone comes into the middle to do the dance.

Sumi Kent - Koto
The koto, also called kin, long Japanese board zither having 13 silk strings and movable bridges. The body of the instrument is made of paulownia wood and is about 190 cm (74 inches) long.
It has a very unique sound and is one of the oldest traditional Japanese Instruments. This performance is one that will remain in your memory for a long time after the event, it's a performance you very rarely get to see live. This is something that everyone must see and hear at least once in their life!
