UK Based Japanese Societies
Across the UK, Japanese societies play a vital role in bringing people together through a shared appreciation of Japan’s culture, language, and traditions. From university groups and community organisations to cultural clubs and hobby circles, these societies create welcoming spaces where people can connect, learn, and celebrate everything from traditional arts and festivals to modern pop culture. This page highlights a selection of Japanese societies across the country, helping you discover communities near you, explore new interests, and get involved in the vibrant network of Japanese culture here in the UK.

University of Sheffield - Japan Society
Hello, we are the University of Sheffield Japan Society!
We are one of the biggest and most active Japanese societies in the UK.
What we offer is more than just a club for Japanese students studying in Britain. We welcome anyone, regardless of nationality, degree, or background, who has an interest in Japan and Japanese culture. Together, we come together and simply have fun!
We aim to bring you cultural visits to the beautiful towns and countryside surrounding Sheffield, Japanese film nights, weekly socials, language exchange sessions, cultural events, quarterly parties and much more! So come and join us and keep an eye out for upcoming events!
There are many other benefits to becoming a full member of our society aside from the vibrant sociable aspects of Japan Society!
Who Can Join: The society is open to ANY member of a UK university, or those who generally comply with the rules and regulations of the university. In short, the society is open to everyone!
